Stretch the muscles that you grip with:
Your arm is reaching palm forward, fingers pointing upwards,
Keep the elbow straight.
Use your other hand to assist the stretch by actively pulling the fingers towards you,
Hold for 2 seconds,
Release back to the starting position,
Repeat as needed.

 

Stretch the muscles that open your hand:
Your arm is reaching forward, palm down,
Close your fist and flex your wrist in the same direction,
Keep the elbow straight.
Assist with the other hand’s fingers on the back of the flexed hand,
Place the other hand’s thumb on the fingernails of the flexed hand,
Gently assist the stretch.
Hold for 2 seconds,
Release back to the starting position,
Repeat as needed.

 

Fine tuning: Use the assisting hand to “open" or decompress the joints of the fingers and wrist away from the elbow.
